Hi! My name is Jessica Courtney Baio. I am a 17-year-old singer/songwriter from a small town just outside of Sacramento, California. I love performing, songwriting, sharing my passion for music with others, and chasing my dream of becoming a musical performing artist! I started taking voice lessons when I was 10-years-old, and over the last five years, I’ve also learned to play guitar and piano.
Fate took an incredible turn for me when I was only 11. I participated and won an online contest which gave me the opportunity to perform in person, for X-Factor star Cher Lloyd. My mom recorded the performance for me, and we posted the video of the live cover – ‘Wrecking Ball’ by Miley Cyrus, to my YouTube channel. It was only the 15th video I had posted to my channel, which at the time, was less than a year and a half old. Sometime in March of 2017 that video crossed the 1 million view mark, and my subscriber count had grown to an amazing 20,000 subscribers! Over the next six months, my subscriber count almost doubled, and the view count crept towards 3.5 million views (65k thumbs up, and over 7,500 comments!)
When I was 12, I joined an all-girl group that was put together by the vocal training studio that I was a member of called “Sing Inc.”. We performed at local fundraisers, fairs, malls, etc. I was in the group for about a year but took voice lessons at Sing Inc. for three years. During those three years, not only did my singing improve, but my confidence grew extensively, which has really helped my performing. I also competed in a local competition called “Loomis Basin Has Talent”, and ended up winning the entire thing!
I have always loved writing songs. The first time a shared my writing on YouTube, I was only 11. It was a live performance of a song I wrote called ‘My Dream’. Since then I have written many more songs, always getting better and better. I have released six of them independently as singles, but I am currently writing and recording songs, some of which will be used on an EP that I’m hoping to release sometime in 2018.
I have been through several phases of auditions for the TV shows America’s Got Talent, The Voice, and am American Idol. When I was 13, I had the opportunity to perform on Good Day America and sang a live version of my cover “Masterpiece” by Jessie J.
I love performing so much! When I was 14, I wrote to some local schools in my area and was invited to host some assemblies/performances while sharing the positive message of following your dreams and achieving your goals. It was really fun, and I am hoping to do it again soon!
Music is my passion, it’s what I live for, and what I work at each and every day. I’m always learning, and expanding my knowledge, every chance I get. I have dedicated myself to working hard and creating opportunities for myself that take me down the path to becoming the artist that I’m striving so hard to be. Thank you so much for your support. I could not do this without you!
